Nitin Vaidya, COO, ZEEL and Business Head, Zee TV, said, “With the launch of Keshav Pandit, we foray into an entirely new genre on television. Our previous venture with Balaji Telefilms, ‘Pavitra Rishta’, has given us great results and we expect a path breaking success thorough ‘Keshav Pandit’ as well. The acute suspense and interesting insights on the Law & Order of the country brought in by the show will keep the audiences hooked throughout the episodes. We are also happy to introduce Sarwar Ahuja, our yet another find from Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj.”
Ekta Kapoor, Founder, Balaji Telefilms, said, “This is an entirely new concept that surely will click with our viewers. The stories by Ved Prakash Shamra are hugely popular across North India and our endeavor is to make it into a national appeal through the series.”
Sarwar Ahuja, the winner of ‘Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj’ is playing the title character of Keshav Pandit. About his selection for the role, Ekta said, “The character of Keshav Pandit required to be played by a typical North Indian guy with broad shoulders and a matured face. Sarvar fits the role very well and hence has done complete justice to the character which is very relatable to the common man.”
Ved Prakash Sharma, the writer of the show, said, “I am very happy that Zee TV & Balaji Telefilms is taking my stories to national audiences. Keshav Pandit is one of my most popular characters and the book is already in its 10 edition. The stories on the show would be different from my books as it’s a little difficult to feature an entire novel into an episodic serial. I have been writing the stories for the show and the character of Keshav Pandit only gets better and interesting with each passing day.”
The show is being marketed in a unique nature where Zee TV has taken the initiative of educating masses about their basic rights through messages in local trains, buses, traffic police booths, on-air television promos, newspaper stalls etc. On-ground activities with social activists are being conducted wherein people would not only be made aware of their rights but also taught to use law to their advantage and stand up for justice. The existing distribution network of ‘Keshav Pandit’ books would be used to spread these messages through various communications at the book stalls.
‘Keshav Pandit’ will be episodic suspense stories telecast every Saturday at 8.30 p.m. on Zee TV. The show will be shot across North India, featuring various rural and urban locations of cities like Lucknow, Allahabad and Varanasi.
