NGO Opens Discussion forum on Intravenous Fluids (IV Fluids)
Posted On 14th NOV. 2011 : Posted By VISHALMEDIA

-Recent DCGI Guidelines need to build improved co-operation amongst diverse Stakeholders, opine industry Experts-

14 November 2011, Raipur : Mahila Samaj Sewa and Vikas Samiti, an NGO registered under the Societies Registration Act of XXI, 1860 opened a discussion forum on Intravenous Fluids (IV Fluids) – Boon or Bane, in the city today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sandeep Yadav, Co-ordinator, Mahila Samaj Sewa and Vikas Samiti said, ‘’ Intravenous Fluids and the entire life cycle of the fluid is often misunderstood or misread by the diverse community of stakeholders. As an NGO involved in spreading awareness on several health issues, including health issues concerning women and child welfare,

we feel there is a need to share a perspective on not just the process lifecycle of the product but also to bring to light a regulatory perspective on the system and process that can be for the betterment of the society at large. We hope to build on this and plan to commence focus group discussions on the subject in times to come, pan India.’’

Mr Kapil Bhargava, Dy Drug Controller (Retd), Govt of India said,’’ It is indeed an honour and a privilege to be a part of this awareness forum. The subject of IV fluids is indeed critical to mankind. The objective of this discussion is to highlight significant areas of good storage practices, distribution and administration of the fluids as well as the complex processes involved from the time the manufactured product leaves the premises of the manufacture to it’s administration to a patient. It is essential for the recent DCGI guidelines to build greater degree of consensus between various groups involved in it’s effective administration and is relevant to today’s day and age. Hopefully, this will open and improve communication channels between various stakeholders involved in the management of this category of medicine, thereby benefitting mankind. ‘’
