Dr Ann Evensen from AAFP and from GVK EMRI Mr. Subodh Satyawadi, CEO and Mr. K. Krishnam Raju, Director represented these two organizations at the MoU exchange ceremony held at Hyderabad on 7th November, 2011. Dr Lau Sanner, Dr Rabecca Reim, Dr Lawrence Leeman, Dr Julianne Falleroni from AAFP, Dr Mahadevan, Dr Matthew Strehlow from Stanford- USA, Dr GV Ramana Rao, Dr Rajanarsing Rao from EMLC, GVK EMRI were also present at the MoU exchange event. Visiting faculty of international trainers from AAFP is developing Instructors Teams at GVK EMRI to conduct ALSO programs in India.
GVK EMRI CEO Mr. Subodh Satyawadi said this program will have huge benefit for paramedic staff in the country and help the beneficiaries. ALSO helps Pregnant women and children in emergency and contribute in reducing MMR and IMR. GVK EMRI plans to take this program to each and every corner of the country,

Advanced Life Support in Obstetric s(ALSO) helps doctors, midwives, nurses and other healthcare providers develop and maintain the knowledge and skills they need to effectively manage potential emergencies during the peri-natal period (during delivery ). ALSO is 2-day structured evidence based and multi-disciplinary certificate training program. ALSO program is administered in 47 countries already. With pre-course syllabus reading and minimal lecture time, this course offers an interactive learning environment utilizing pelvic mannequins and other appropriate medical equipment. Completion of this course awards ALSO Providers status for five years. As ALSO expands internationally, the current curriculum is modified for epidemiological, medical, technological, pedagogical and cultural contexts where ALSO is taught. The five leading causes of maternal mortality in the world viz., Hemorrhage, Infection, Unsafe abortion, eclampsia and obstructed labour are including in the ALSO curriculum.
GVK EMRI, a Not-for –Profit organization with Head Office in Hyderabad, is already a leader in provision of emergency response services under Public-Private- Partnership mode in 11 states in India. GVKEMRI is already conducting globally valid Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and International Trauma Life Support certificate training programs as a recognized international training center. So far 62,000 persons were trained at Emergency Medicine Learning Center (EMLC) of GVK EMRI including 5000 doctors, 6000 nurses working in hospitals and many other healthcare providers including paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians .
GVK EMRI provides ambulance based pre-hospital care services under PPP framework with a fleet of over 3000 of ambulances. Nearly one-third of the 11500 emergencies served everyday are pregnant women. ALSO program aiming at enhancing the skills of healthcare providers complements the efforts of GVK EMRI in reducing the maternal morbidity and mortality. GVKEMRI plans to conduct both Basic and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) programs to Doctors, Post-graduate students, Nurses and Midwives regularly from now onwards in at least 12 training centers in the country.
