In just one year of its operations in Chhattisgarh, '108 Sanjivani Express Ambulance service has attended 71446 Emergencies in Chhattisgarh. With the start of 108 services, these precious lives were rescued otherwise these would have been lost forever. The service was launched in Chattisgarh on 25th Jan 2011.
'108 Sanjivani Express Ambulance' service completed the glorious journey of one year of saving lives in Chattisgarh. In last one year, of its operations in Chattisgarh 108 ERS has responded to 132230 Emergency Calls and handled 71446 Emergencies.
Out of these, 85160 emergencies were medical emergencies, 4371 were police emergencies and 1188 were fire emergencies.
In medical emergency, 30074 cases were pregnancy related emergency, out of which more than 800 babies were delivered inside the ambulance. Every mother and child born in ambulance are healthy which were handled by 108 ERS.
Bastar, Bijapur , Bilaspur , Dakshin Bastar Dantewada , Dhamtari , Durg , Janjgir - Champa ,Jashpur , Kabeerdham , Korba , Koriya , Mahasamund ,Narayanpur , Raigarh , Raipur , Rajnandgaon , Surguja and Uttar Bastar Kanker districts are covered completely by the service with 172 ambulances. In these districts, if anyone had called 108 for help, then the ambulance had reached in an average time of 20 minutes.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Director Health Services , Chattisgarh said, “'108 Sanjivani Express Ambulance service has contributed a lot in saving lives of the people from both urban and rural Chattisgarh. 108 services is doing a noble job of saving lives. Ananda Babu , Mission Director (NRHM) says “The 108 emergency ambulance services in Chattisgarh is doing wonders since it was launched and patients across the state availing the emergency facility in the quickest possible time ". People from both the rural and urban areas are getting benefit of this service and many precious lives are saved during one year by this initiative.
Purshottam Verma, Chief Operating Officer, GVK EMRI Chattisgarh , says “We are thankful to the Government of Chattisgarh and the people of CG for the support that they have given to 108 in last one year. People have accepted the service very well which clearly comes out in the response that we are getting. The service is for the people, so if there is any emergency, call 108 and avail the service.
The 108 ERS is a comprehensive emergency service where anyone can call for any emergency - be it Medical, Police and Fire related. 108 is a toll free number and can be dialed from landline and mobile phone without any code.
The service is available 24x7 and is absolutely free of cost to everyone. For medical emergency, the 108 ambulance are equipped with all the requires medicines and medical equipments ranging from Suction machine, Oxygen Cylinder, Nebulizers, Glucometer, Electronic B.P. instrument, Pulse Oximeter to extrication tools, to handle almost any emergency situation.
When a caller dials 108 to report an emergency, the call lands at the 108 Emergency Response Center where the call taker will gather all the necessary information regarding type of emergency and the location of the emergency scene - where you are calling from i.e. District/Taluka /City/Town/exact location/landmark. After gathering the information either the 108 Ambulance, Fire vehicle or the Police is dispatched depending on the type of emergency. The Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) in the ambulance and Emergency Response Centre Physicians (ERCP) at the call center will provide professional pre-hospital care free of cost while transporting the victim in the ambulance to the nearest hospital of his choice.
108 Emergency Response Center has been set up in Raipur where all the calls to 108 lands up. The ambulances are strategically located in the districts for emergency handling and the service is available round the clock. Right from making a call to rendering the necessary pre-hospital care in the ambulance and taking the victim to the nearest hospital, the entire service is free to everyone in Chattisgarh.
