Mumbai, September 8th, 2010: This September Imagine unveils two brand new shows - Gunahon Ka Devta and Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo.
Gunahon Ka Devta is a love story that brings to your screens, the most
dynamic and smoldering hero on Television- Avdesh Singh Thakur. In a
crime infested town in eastern UP, Avdesh Singh Thakur is the leader of
the most dreaded gang of criminals. However his name doesn’t only invoke
fear…it is also revered, revered for his intrinsic goodness, his sense of
honour & humanity. He extorts money from the rich; but those in need
never leave empty handed from his doorstep. In a region where women are
tormented & oppressed; Avdesh holds them in the highest regard. He will
not think twice before putting his life on the line to defend a woman’s honor,
but cannot bring himself to even look in the eye of Arpita, the girl he secretly
adores. Arpita, a beautiful 19 year old history student is in awe of Avdesh.
In a town, where women feel unsafe and unprotected, she dreams of being
with a man like Avdesh. Theirs is an intense and passionate love story set
against a violent backdrop.
Will their love story see the light or get drowned in the sounds of gunfire?
Produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms Pvt Ltd, this captivating love story is
written by Shanti Bhushan & Kamal Pandey. The show features Ashish
Sharma as Avdesh Singh Thakur and Tanvi Bhatia as Arpita.
Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo, Produced by Nikhil Sinha’s Triangle Film
Company and Raakesh Paswan is an emotional tale about Bharati, a girl
with a beautiful heart and an abundance of talent. However Bharati faces
rejection and ridicule just because of the way she looks. She longs to find
a man who will love her despite her flaws. For the first time on Indian
Television, a real life person will depict herself as a reel life character on
screen. To make the story even more authentic, the role of Bharati will not
be performed by a trained actress but by an ordinary girl, who herself is
facing the same issues in real life. Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo will also feature
the popular actor Vikrant Massey.
Announcing the two new shows, Saurabh Tewari Head of programming,
Imagine says, “With these two new shows we kick start our new prime time
line up. Both these shows have
extraordinary stories and also herald the debut of 2 very distinctive
protagonists on Indian TV. Avdesh’s character in Gunahon ka Devta will
create a new kind of hero for Indian
television…one who is different from the current flock of chocolate boy
heroes that we see. On the other hand Bharati is the most unique female
lead to have ever appeared on TV. Bharati’s role is being performed by
someone who herself has faced exactly the same hardships in real
life. Her character will definitely connect with our audiences.”
Commenting on Gunahon Ka Devta, Neelima Bajpai, Shakuntalam Telefilms
Pvt Ltd, “We are extremely delighted and proud to continue our innings on
Imagine with our latest offering Gunahon Ka Devta. I am confident that the
show will strike a chord with the viewers across the country. Being inspired
by real life events, the show will offer city folks an overview of how crime
prevails in small towns.”
Commenting on Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo, Director & Producer, Nikhil Sinha
says “What makes Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo stand apart is the storyline. It
is told through the perspective of a kind and talented young girl, who faces
rejection because of the way she looks. However she does
not give up hope and continues to have a never-say-die attitude."
Adds Raakesh Paswan, Writer and Producer of Baba Aiso Varr
Dhoondo "The biggest asset of this show is the simplicity with which the role
of Bharati has been portrayed by an ordinary girl with no formal training in acting. Her
emotions come straight from her heart since she deals with
such situations in her routine life as well. Bharati's character will completely
stand out compared to all other GEC female protagonists."
Gunahon Ka Devta & Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo will premier Monday to
Friday, September 20th , 2010 at 9:00 pm & 9:30 pm respectively only on
