COLORS TV Salutes the Spirit of Freedom, Heroism & Courage on independance day

Mumbai, August 12, 2010: This Independence Day, COLORS salutes the spirit of freedom, heroism and courage.
Join the COLORS family as it comes together to mark August 15th as a tribute to our nation’s heroes, the culture and
the unity in diversity through a special presentation – Dabur Honitus presents ‘15th August - A Salute to India’.

In this colorful celebration to be showcased on Sunday, August 15 at 2 pm and 8 pm, hosts, Sharad Kelkar (Bairi
Piya) and Vinay Rohra (Laagi Tujhse Lagan) will be seen doing ‘Gandhigiri’ as Munnabhai and Circuit. As part of
the celebrations, real life heroes who lead ordinary lives but do extraordinary deeds will be felicitated for their selfless
contribution to our country.
Sprinkling joy and celebrations, COLORS will bring the house down with their scintillating performances tracing our country’s rich culture, festivals, celebrations and patriotism. Jay Bhanushali and Nakusha aka Mahi Vij will be seen
performing on the famous Marathi song, ‘Daga La Lagali Kala’ where small screen’s favourite chocolate boy will be
wooing Naku in full ‘tapori’ style! The endearing young couple, Anandi (Avika Gor) and Jagya (Avinash Mukherjee)
will make a comeback, dancing to glory on ‘Rangeelo Maro Dholna’. Uttaran’s Veer (Nandish Sandhu) and Tapasya
(Rashmi Desai) will take you back in time by bringing alive the theme of timeless love through their performance on
‘Jab pyaar kiya toh darna kya’. Chak Dhoom Dhoom winner, Sparsh Srivastav will set the stage on fire yet again on
Independence special along with his other finalist friends. The celebration’s highlight will be a medley of the greatest
patriotic songs and a powerhouse performance by Kailash Kher.
Other performers who will set the stage on fire are Saloni, Abeer (Gaurav Khanna), Vansh (Rohit Khurana),
Bhairon (Anup Soni), Aamir & Sanjeeda, Sugna (Veebha) & Shyam (Vikrant), Gehna (Neha Marda), Pratima
Kannan (Nani of Uttaran) and Swati Chitnis (Aai Saab of Laagi), Suhasi and Kinshuk Mahajan amongst
others.
On a day that signifies patriotism and the human spirit, this event is a dedication to those compassionate, those
brave and those kind-hearted heroes who have selflessly offered their lives to change the nation. As part of the
festivities, five ‘Salute to India’ awards will be presented to these real live heroes…
These awardees include Rehan Shaikh, Feroz Sheikh and Chhotu Chaiwala who showed their bravery on the night
26/11 terrorist attacks; in the absence of the police and emergency medical services, these young boys transported
dozens of injured victims and shifted an equal number of bodies on make-shift carts to St. George Hospital in South
Mumbai. Another bravado act was by the nursing department of Cama Hospital who nursed their patients despite the
grave danger that lurked on their heads on the night of 26/11 attacks. Sixteen-year-old, Babar Ali from West Bengal
is the youngest principal in the country and his contributions in bringing education to all are award worthy. Poonch’s
(J&K) Inspector, Shaheeda Praveen will be felicitated for her countless operations against terrorists. And lastly,
Chetna Gala Sinha whose NGO strives to enhance the economic empowerment and advancement of rural women
through education, property rights and social security initiatives will be honoured.
